Sophisticated Cyberattack Robs US Hospital's $1mln

TEHRAN (FNA)- A Washington State hospital fell victim to a sophisticated cyberattack that emptied over $1mln from its electronic bank account.

The County Treasurer's office reported that three unauthorized transactions had been logged the previous Friday, which transferred an estimated $1.03mln to 96 different bank accounts, mostly in the Midwest and East coast, RT reported.

According to the Yakima Herald, the nonprofit medical center operates on a $13.2mln budget, $8mln of which is dedicated to salaries and benefits, and completed a $14mln remodeling project in 2011.
