Belgian Police Raid 46 Houses in Search for Gunmen Recruited to Fight in Syria

BRUSSELS, (SANA) - Belgian police raided 46 houses in different areas in Belgium on Tuesday in an investigation into an Islamist group suspected of recruiting gunmen to fight with terrorists groups in Syria.

Reuters quoted a Spokesperson for Belgium's Federal Prosecutors as saying that " We have indications that 'Sharia4Belgium' Group was sending people to Syria to join terrorist groups there."

Prosecutors said Fouad Belkacem, the leader of Sharia4Belgium, had been detained, but they declined to say whether anyone else had been taken in.

Belgian newspapers confirmed that Belkacem had recruited gunmen and sent them to fight in Syria.
